Description
Clayton of Boston. Fenland Float Rod. Butt and mid joint whole cane. Tip joint split cane. 11ft 6in (minus butt cap.I believe this is the correct length judging from the ring spacing on the tip. The first inter was usually about 7 1/2” from the tip . I replaced the chrome intermediates. The lined butt and tip rings are original. The rod is straight and has a tIp action. More flexible than a rod with a spliced tip . The 23 in cork handle is in good order. The ferrules are a good fit. The female ferrule on the butt joint has knock and would benefit from being refitted. The varnished finish is in good order. The varnish is light brown . (I have never been able to replicate it. )The rod would have been made in the late 50’s early 60’s. Comes with a twill bag . In good clean condition and requires new tape to middle of bag. All in all a nice example of Fenland float rod of that era.
