VINTAGE FRENCH FISHING BOX, SEAT, BASKET, TACKLE BOX, HAND MADE FROM KIT - ARTICLE DE PECHE FRANCAIS - TWO TRAY/COMPARTMENT, 37cm tall 38.5cm long 26.5cm wide - 1960s RETRO*Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!*This retro fishing box was in an outhouse to our French house when we bought it, the owner since telling us that it was hand made from a kit around the 1960s and used by his son.Almost scratch built in construction from nailed wood with some dovetail joints, hardboard sheets and a hinged vinyl seat, it has a sticker to the front - ARTICLE DE PECHE FRANCAIS.Now worn but still sound with a hinged upper tray, a larger lower box tray, and a tatty but secure strap.Retro in appearance this is still usable for it’s intended purpose or as an unusual storage box, child’s seat, or just as a decorative display item…*In good vintage condition with wear, a little old woodworm and staining consistent with its age and use but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.Sturdy enough to sit on, I’ve sat on it.Constructed from a wooden frame and top box and hardboard sheets.Structurally sound with the odd small split, there is no movement at the dovetailed joints.NOTE: this has just a little old woodworm which I have treated - see photos.The seat cushion is still spongy and the vinyl is still sound and intact.NOTE: there is a very small split to the top of the vinyl seat, more of a puncture, about 1-2mm long but it is still sound - see photos.The wooden sheet panels are worn with some scratches and staining, presumably from use and getting wet when fishing, but sound - see photos.I think all surfaces may have been originally varnished but I’m not certain.They have been wiped down and given a coat of wax by me.The hinges are a little rusted but sound.The seat opens smoothly to reveal a top tray, with a further hinge for the bigger tackle box underneath.The front clasps are in good condition and still work as they should.The interior is worn and stained but sound and clean.The base is in similar condition.The strap is in tatty but sound, condition.The feet are in similar condition.NOTE: the front left foot as you look at it has a chip out of it but is still secure and sound - see photos.I can find no maker’s but there is a sticker - ARTICLE DE PECHE FRANCAIS.*Measures approximately:37 cm tall,38.5 cm long maximum at the feet,26.5 cm wide at the feet,36 cm x 24 cm at the top,Weighs about 3.4 kg*If anyone wishes to purchase immediately we will seriously consider offers above the start price.
