I have many of these same reels and I have used them exclusively for years, finding them to be absolutely reliable and completely satisfactory. This one is 3 5/8" in diameter and takes an 8 line and lots of backing. Both reel and spool are lined. It has a disc drag system that is easily adjustable, even when a fish is in play, and is completely reliable. Gerrit bought, you will not be disappointed in the performance of these reels.
