Description

A genuine vintage brass rod butt end from the legendary Hardy Brothers of Alnwick, England, one of the most respected names in traditional British angling. This example is stamped “By Appointment to King George V” and importantly retains a clearly visible serial number: 71706A, a feature increasingly difficult to find on loose Hardy fittings. Numbered components were typically paired with quality rods, making this especially appealing to collectors and restoration specialists seeking authentic period parts. Features the original threaded screw end, making it particularly desirable for restoration purposes.Likely dating to the early to mid 20th century, these fittings were used on Hardy’s higher grade split cane rods and are now sought after pieces of angling history. The brass displays a superb untouched patina with crisp stampings throughout, giving the piece excellent character consistent with its age. The original cork insert remains present and shows honest wear, many collectors strongly prefer original materials rather than replacements.Condition:Good vintage condition with natural age related wear. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description. An increasingly scarce opportunity to acquire an authentic, serial numbered Hardy component, ideal for collectors, restorers, or enthusiasts of classic tackle.Carefully packaged and promptly dispatched.
