Description
The Worcestershire Supreme / Worcestershire Boron fly rods are actually a very interesting bit of late British tackle history. They were produced by Shakespeare under the “Worcestershire Fly” / “Worcestershire Supreme” branding, built in Redditch, England during roughly the mid-1980s into early 1990s — right when boron composite blanks were considered premium, cutting-edge technology. A period UK fly-fishing forum discussion dates the launch at about 28 years prior to 2010, which lines up with the early/mid 1980s. What exactly is it?This was not a cheap starter rod.The Worcestershire Supreme models sat above Shakespeare’s standard glass/carbon offerings and were marketed as:* lighter than fibreglass* crisper recovery than early carbon* stronger butt sectionsHow good are they to fish with today?Honestly — very usable, provided:* ferrules are sound* guides are not grooved* no blank fractures* whipping varnish hasn’t perishedNow you’ve read the historical info around the rod, I can confirm it’s in used but good condition. This quintessentially English rod would make a great addition to anyone’s collection.Either store it away and let it appreciate in value, or pair it with a suitable rod and reel and head out in time for the May Fly hatch.Unfortunately this doesn’t come with a rod bag, but it will be safely packaged.
