Description
Up for auction is a highly collectible, American-made Penn Long Beach No. 66 sea fishing reel. This is a rare 1952–1954 transitional model featuring smooth, plain black Bakelite side plates and the original mottled yellow Bakelite torpedo handle.Confirmed Age & Rarity:This reel features the "30-66" part number stamped on the reel stand, which Penn introduced in 1952. However, it retains the highly desirable, smooth plain black side plates before Penn phased them out for stamped artwork in 1954. This narrow 3-year production window makes it a fantastic piece for vintage Penn collectors.Condition Breakdown:Cosmetics: Heavily used vintage condition. The plain black Bakelite plates are clean with no cracks or chips. The chrome brightwork shows noticeable tarnish, pitting, and greening from years of sea air, but it remains solid. Please check the photos carefully.Mechanics: Fully working order. The spool drops cleanly into free-spool, the star drag tightens smoothly, the clicker is loud and crisp, and the anti-reverse engages exactly as it should.Summary:A beautiful, documented example of an authentic 1950s American sea reel. Perfect for a classic tackle collection or for traditional boat fishing.Returns: Vintage item sold strictly as-described in used condition. Please review the high-resolution photos carefully to assess cosmetic condition. Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding!
