Description
The company was founded in Redditch, England, shortly after WWII by Bernard Sealey, the cousin of another famous rod maker, Edgar Sealey. The Bernard Sealey & Co "Grey D" is a vintage 9ft 6 inch 2 piece fibreglass fly fishing rod produced during the early 1970s.Key Specs:-Material: The "Grey D" series was part of the company's move into glass fibre (fibreglass) technology. While the company's earlier rods were often made of split cane, their 1970’s offerings transitioned to synthetic materials. The rod blank colour is light green and features green whippings which are black tipped.Design: These rods typically featured a distinct shield logo on the blank (as per this rod) and were often designed by members of the Sealey family, such as Bernard’s son or grandson, both named Robert.Usage: "Grey D" rods were designed for traditional fly fishing for trout or salmon. The Stripper/Butt Guide has a lined ring which was standard on better-quality vintage British rods of this era.The rod is in very good condition and comes with its original cloth bag.The rod can be Collection Only, or via Post (Parcelforce 48). Will be delivered in a hard plastic rod tube case together with additional protective bubble-wrap packing inside to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.Any questions please feel free to ask - many thanks and happy bidding.
