Here we have a GM Richardson, Dumfries 8ft Split Cane Salmon, Pike or Carp Stalking Rod, Lovely.This is a two piece 8ft Rod made in Scotland in 1940 of high quality Split Cane with brass ferrules & fittings, plus agate lined guides all through. The intermediate whippings are extensive and all original. Originally made for Salmon Spinning, the rod would also work well for Pike, or my preferred tactic of Stalking Carp, perhaps with a Centrepin reel. It has all the power to handle big fish.The rod appears original throughout, there is some scuffing of whippings and I have stuck down the odd loose tag of dark green silk. The red rubber butt cushion shows some perishing, but remains soft and does what it should. They're only original once and what a lovely old rod, with 1940 in old ink on the butt section, so now 85 years old and dating from the year of the Battle of Britain in WW2.The Rod will be well packaged for transport in a UPVC rod tube, sent insured with a decent Courier, or can be collected from Melbourne, Derbyshire, 15 mins from M1 J24.Any International buyers, please contact me for accurate shipping charges.
