Description
A scarce antique brass plate-wind fly fishing reel by A & N C.S.L. (Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd), engraved: “A & N C.S.L Makers 105 Victoria St Westminster” Dating to approximately 1900–1915, this is a lovely Edwardian brass fly/salmon reel with constant check mechanism, original brass foot and turned dark horn/ebonite handle. The reel measures approximately 3 inches in diameter and weighs 295g. Condition is very original with excellent untouched aged patina throughout. The reel retains good crisp engraving and smooth operation. Constant check mechanism working correctly. Typical light age-related wear, surface marks and oxidisation as expected for a reel over 100 years old. A very collectable early Army & Navy brass reel and an attractive addition to any vintage tackle collection.
