Description

Rare vintage and early Hardy “The Gold Medal” 10ft 2 piece (plus spare tip) Palakona cane twin tip Fly Rod in excellent vintage condition. Lockfast joints, burgundy eye and intermediate whipping, lined butt and tip rings, and a cork handle with sliding ring W reel fitting. This Victorian rod, stamped 18972 (1892) rings no 2307,  although unmarked is almost certainly an early example of “The Gold Medal”. A Hardy twin pocket khaki bag (not the original) included.Condition * Cane straight no sets, damage or repair* Eyes and whipping appear to be original and sound* Varnish very good for a rod of this age * Stampings all present and correct, no markings* Cork handle and fittings clean and complete.* Bag intactThis is an early example of a Fly Rod from the respected British rod builder, Hardy of Alnwick.Un assembled length 158cm. 714
