Description

The Hardy Brothers "THE WYE" #9 12,6 1956, Palakona Cane Fly Rod is a vintage fishing rod designed for fly fishing. Handcrafted on Hardy's renowned Palakona split cane,"The Wye" is a classic of British rod making-designed for power, precision, and elegance on the water. Made from high-quality cane material, this rod is perfect for catching salmon, trout, and other freshwater fish. The rod comes with its original bag, adding to its collectability and functionality for fishing enthusiasts. The Hardy Brothers is a renowned brand in the fishing industry, known for producing durable and reliable fishing equipment. This classic fly rod is a must-have for use on the river or for the collection. This example is the 12'6" #9 model, with serial numbers show year of manufacture as 1956. The rod is ideal for traditional salmon fishing on larger rivers, and comes with a spare tip section for added confidence. Unfortunately one of the end line guide rings on one of the spare tips has been replaced at some point. Key points for this rod are; * 12'6" length, rated for #9 lines* 3-piece construction with two matching tips- unfortunately one of the spare tips has had a replaced end line guide ring* The cork handle shows signs of wear from the hook being attached to the handle. But does not affect the performance. The down-locking alloy reel seat is great condition with hardy markings, and the end butt has the the serial numbers clearly visible. * Agate-lined butt and tip rings, with low-bell rings throughout* Red silk whippings throughout all good condition. * Original Hardy alloy rod stoppers. * Supplied in its original cloth rod bag, also in very good condition. This rod has been used over the years and does have minimal use related wear as would be expected from a 70yr old fishing rod. But it’s not been used for decades and is a fine example and in very good condition. Coming from an enthusiasts personal colllection. The rod will be shipped in a plastic tube for protection with more than adequate packaging for the best possible protection during transit. The pictures of the rod are of the rod that is being sold. I have been truthful with the description as best as possible. If you require more information or pictures please do not hesitate to ask. There are many more rods, reels and fishing tackle to come.
